At a certain age everything fails; this is also true for inground hydraulic cylinders. When a large freight car failed a pressure test the inground cylinder was required to be updated. Equipped with a 7” piston and traveling over 50’ in rise, this cylinder replacement requires proper rigging, specialized hoists and detail to safety and installation. United Drilling has boom trucks inhouse to allow for seamless delivery of longer lengths (eliminating unnecessary joints). In combination with our certified riggers and specialized airhoists, not to mention our experienced crews with over 500 jack installations, the removal of the old and installation of the new was completed in less than 8 days. Getting everything back up and running before the New York Red Bulls started their season!
